Experience that keeps evolving

TAMPONCOLOR was founded in Neu-Isenburg in 1977. Over the decades, the development and manufacture of pad printing machines grew into a company that today also delivers customer-specific systems and complex system solutions.

Since the mid-1980s, we have been developing bespoke printing systems for industrial applications. This experience still shapes TAMPONCOLOR today: we combine proven printing technology with in-house design engineering, application experience and the ability to turn new technical requirements into production solutions that work.

Development is part of TAMPONCOLOR

Industrial printing tasks are changing. New materials, component geometries, production processes and automation requirements keep calling for new technical solutions.

That is why design engineering and continuous development have been part of TAMPONCOLOR for decades. Research and cooperation projects extend the range of applications for printing technology and create new possibilities for industrial use.

Projects such as OPENMIND or the cooperation with Chemnitz University of Technology document this development work.

European funding project OPENMIND by TAMPONCOLOR

OPENMIND: 360° all-round printing on continuous material

In the European funding project OPENMIND (On-demand production of entirely customised minimally invasive medical devices), TAMPONCOLOR developed a pad printing system for high-precision 360° all-round printing. It prints continuously fed endless material, for example in the manufacture of catheters, probes and tubing.

Cooperation project between TAMPONCOLOR and Chemnitz University of Technology

Chemnitz University of Technology: conductive layers in injection moulding

In a cooperation project with Chemnitz University of Technology, funded by the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU), TAMPONCOLOR developed a pad printing machine for the in-mould application of electrically conductive layers. The machine prints circuit patterns directly onto the mould wall of the injection moulding machine. The plastic melt then embeds the motif in the component.

You will find more detailed insights into current projects, new applications and technical developments in our Latest section.

Quality for industrial processes

A good sample part alone is not enough in industrial production. What matters is that a print result can be produced reliably and reproducibly.

TAMPONCOLOR works with a quality management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015. Defined processes accompany development, design engineering, manufacturing, assembly and commissioning.

We look at the machine and the printing process as a whole. Component, pad, cliché, ink, machine settings and ambient conditions together determine the quality of the print result.

Understanding and mastering pad printing

Training based on everyday practice

TAMPONCOLOR training room in Neu-Isenburg with pad printing machines for hands-on exercises

Anyone who wants to run and optimise a pad printing process reliably needs more than knowledge of how to operate a machine. Printing pad, cliché, ink, component, machine settings and process times all influence one another.

This is exactly where TAMPONCOLOR training comes in. We teach the fundamentals of pad printing and combine them with practical knowledge for day-to-day work on the machine and the process.

The training covers the entire printing process: from how pad printing works and the selection of suitable pads, clichés and inks through to machine technology, ink systems, set-up and changeover. Practical work is a particular focus: identifying typical print defects, systematically narrowing down their causes and deriving the right measures.

What our pad printing training covers

Pad printing fundamentals

How does the indirect gravure printing process work, what roles do the cliché and the printing pad play, and which factors determine ink transfer?

Choosing the right printing pads

The geometry, hardness and size of a pad affect precision, deformation, edge definition and service life. The training shows which choice makes sense for different component geometries.

Understanding clichés and ink systems

Photopolymer, thin steel, thick steel and other types of cliché differ in their properties and service life. The choice and processing of the ink must also suit the material and the application.

Mastering machine technology

Participants get to know different machine concepts, drive variants and open and closed ink systems, and understand how they affect the printing process.

Setting up and changing over machines

Pad stroke, ink transfer times, positioning and other parameters determine the print result. The training shows how to set up a machine systematically and adapt it to the task in hand.

Identifying and correcting print defects

Why does the ink not adhere? Why is a print image transferred blurred or incomplete? What role do pad stroke, pad shape, ink viscosity, cliché or surface pre-treatment play? Troubleshooting is an important practical part of the training.

For newcomers and experienced users

Our training is aimed at employees who are new to pad printing technology as well as experienced users who want to deepen their knowledge, assess processes better or resolve faults more quickly.

We do not teach abstract textbook knowledge. The content comes from our day-to-day work with machines, printing processes and industrial applications.

Passing on knowledge and experience

For us, training is part of the technical support we provide to our customers. A stable printing process does not depend on the machine alone. It is just as important that employees understand the interrelationships and can correctly interpret changes in the print image.

We pass this knowledge on: from the fundamentals to systematic troubleshooting and process optimisation.

Would you like to train your staff in pad printing or deepen existing process knowledge?

From Neu-Isenburg to production environments worldwide

TAMPONCOLOR develops and manufactures at its site in Neu-Isenburg. Our machines and systems, however, are used far beyond Germany.

Alongside the German and European markets, we have worked with international customers for many years. With many of these companies, we share a long-standing working relationship.
